Its a boring night because I do not watch the World Cup. So, since I had some leftover softdrinks.........
Cables that pisses me off
Sometimes, during installations, you have to deal with a lot of cables. And also, they are labeled cryptically. So, in the end, you would be wasting a lot of time just trying to separate them. Normally, we just terminate them and get on with our lives but in this case, the Main Contractor just refused to tell us which cables are for what. Yes, I could just terminate them and be done with it but we do not want to cause any unnecessary conflicts.
This is a very cheap cable. The outer grey sheath sticks to the inner cables.
When you strip the main sheath, the inner cables would come off as well
This exposes the wires and causes a short

One bunch goes to the main table, the other goes to administration.
The rest are for future expansion as you cannot just break up the
marble tile flooring (in the future)to lay the cables. The only
problem is, which is which. Took us hours to separate them

I really hate this one. Its a Gel-filled cable. The outer
black sheath is quite tough. Next is the metal shielding
before we get to the 10-pairs of cables itself. What I
really hate is that the cables inside were coated with
gel which reminds me of those sticky half-frozen fat.
When you get them on your fingers, the sticky goo will
spread everywhere. And everything you touch will be
sticky and icky. Good luck with normal soap and water.
When I am in the mood, I will blog about this cable later.
And at this time, your nose or ears will usually start to itch

Fibre Optic cables

After discovering that their equipment can't display World Cup matches
they decided to start work

Really, it just can't seem to receive Television Images

But it just looked so cute and important, sitting there, displaying technical
readouts like some expensive equipment.
I want one!

Its not easy to get these fibre-optics done up
They were testing and cutting a lot of time
System Installation @ Kuantan II
In most installations, all the systems were wall-mounted. And depending on the types of wall, be it contrete or plaster, the usual procedure applies. The only difference is in how you want you holes to be done. It must be done right, so you get a tight fit or else everything will fall on you.

OK, so the wall is made of plaster instead of concrete
So, its a simple matter of make a hole with your screwdriver

Then you open up the wood plug like a flower on one end
and shove it into the hole

Then you screw the hole with the flower in it

Or you can get a handsome gut with a sexy butt to do the screwing

Oh, I see. So this is where they hid the rest of the system.....

So, the System has been mounted and most of the cables
has been terminated into the junction box
System Installation @ Kuantan I
So, we had to go up today, to relocate a PABX from the old office to the new building. And also, we had to expand it as there were more extensions being added. The frist night was not that productive as we were planning to complete the cabling so that the next day, we can concentrate on mounting the system. Moreover, the new stocks had arrived early in the morning but it got "lost" when the movers came.

So, after a lot of discussions, we started work.
The cables were there, so we started by mounting the junction box

You mean the system was delivered this morning and
the movers have hidden them here?

The building is closed off, so we can work in peace

But then, the Generator had problems
The lights were flickering like crazy and so, we
were asked to stop work for the night

Wow. Room 404!

At last! I finally got to taste the elusive Cadbury's Bytes
Not bad at all. Its those oat pieces you eat for breakfast
but with chocolate fillings inside

The Colour Purple
First and foremost, this conversation is not true and did not take place. But for many others, the beginning and the end of the story is the same, OK?

Driver: Er, Good Morning, Tuan

Auldey's Dangun Racer
So, when Tamiya started all this mini 4WD carze back in 1982, all the kids including myself, went nuts. The only exceprtion is that I cannot afford even one. Then in the late-90's when China broke loose, there were a lot of imitation stuff. And if you followed their progress, some of these actually went big. Take Auldey for example. Their mini 4WD was based on Tamiya's ideas. Although they did not copy the product outright, their range was so-so.
And I did not even buy one, even though I have the money now.
But this year, Auldey ventured into another series, which is similar to Tamiya's Dangun Racers. So, for half the price of a Dangun Racer, I got an Auldey (RM19.90) with free VCD as well. Later on, I will get a real Tamiya Dangun racer and I'll compare them side by side. But if you cannot wait, you can either get me one or just give me the money. Ha ha ha ha

This type of packaging is sure to attract a lot of kids
I nearly had to fight with an 8 year old for this model *ahem*

Apart from a lot of pakaging materials, you will get the toy itself,
the VCD and some pamphlet catalog

There are 12 models in all. All their Pilots dressed weird

Mine is called the Libra and in the VCD, it has no colours but a picture
of the prototype. There is "nothing" interesting to see in the VCD.
No animations
No stories
Just 30 short boring segments
Art Asylum's Enterprise-E
This will be my first time to test out my DIY photo booth. I used Art Asylum's Enterprise-E Electronic toy which I bought few weeks ago, from Richard. I am hoping someone else would come up with the Enterprise-D, which I loved to bits after the Enterprise-A.
The toy is quite detailed but because it is a toy and not some RM10,000 collector's item, not everything was lit. My compain was the Impulse Engines were not lit, even when they dropped from warp. Not were the blue Warp coils. Maybe, when I have the time (and some money for some tools) I might want to drill some holes and add more lights. And if I happen to be nuts at that time, I might even want to control the toy via remote control. Its simple because there is only one button.

So far, the felt background is good.
This is how the packaging looked like

And heck. Now I have to spend more time untying those irritating wires
that holds the model, without scratching the paint job

The base for the model, which shaped like the Star Trek Voyager's Commbadge

OK, it looked nice when lit up but I think, if I have the time
I would have to do something about lighting up the warp coils, and the windows

Somehow, the bottom feels "bare". Maybe the paint was done like that?

Again, Art Asylum missed out painting certain parts on my model
And apart from the warp coils, the impulse engines does not light up too

The painting detail is quite nice but I hate this shot
And there is only one button, located on the bridge

The speakers are located under the main saucer

There is a cover underneath the secondary hull
It serves both as battery cover and anchor point for the base

Next to the "free" batteries, you have a switch which lets you
change from play to demo mode. In default, it was in demo mode
where when you press the button for more than 5 seconds, it will
cycle through all the sounds
And rememeber, Boys and Girls, when you're not playing with it, please
take out all the batteries or else it will go leaky leaky and destroy all the
electronics inside. Then it will become a piece of plastic junk

The JL421 Badonkadonk
This is the ultimate in Personal Armoured Transports. The JL421 from NAO Design is capable of transporting a crew of Five at the maximum speed of 40Mph. Although its not road legal, such minor detail would not be missed during post-Apocalypse where anything goes.
