It was about 11 minutes to midnight
Just as soon as I crawled into bed, I decided to have one last look at Facebook. (This was a very bad habit which I've developed since I discovered Science Fiction and Fantasy novels decades ago.) And all of a sudden, Facebook or FB asked me to log in again on my Phone.
It took me quite a few attempts to log in because of the security measures I have opted. Whatever it was, the WhatsApp or SMS authentication codes never arrived. Messenger was of no help either because as soon as I tapped on the app, it suddenly switched over to the log in page.
Panicking that my account could be compromised, I went downstairs to try on my PC with the same result. Which, as predicted, failed.
The actual Cause...
... is I do not know. But come morning, bits of WhatsApp and Internet told me that it affected millions across the World. I was ready to scuttle the base and divert all my efforts to my Website instead. I mean, I have already kind of abandoned my FB Page (Piscean Works) with those idiotic 'Community Guidelines' that pop-up once in a while. So, the process of weaning myself off FB has started.
Just as long as I stop visiting that damn thing.
The plan for the future
Apart from changing the Password (just in case), there is nothing much to do after one has bitched and moaned about the issue. It will happen again and in between, I am sure the goal post would somewhat change for reasons that is borderline insane, almost to mollify some political agenda.
And in the meantime, I'd better concentrate on my own Website since I am paying for it.
