When Companies fold

More often than not, when you come across some shoplots with a nice name, you'd want to visit it. So, I was passing by this place many times and the shop never opens. Maybe they only open a nights to make the cakes and deliver them, I though. Until today, then I discovered something else. Shows my how experienced I was.

This is the Cheese cake shop and its open for business

You can see the staff making cheesecakes already

More lighters

OK, so I went and bought more. Ha ha ha ha. But letting the gas go with the tape just like that is a waste. So, I am going to let my colleagues use them. Then I can kill two birds with one stone: they die faster, I get my empty lighter back. Bwahahahhaa!

I forgot to mention, the liquid gas inside comes
coloured. If you bought a blue one, the gas is
blue and so on.

Here is a short video why I liked them so much

Enterprise NX-01 D

There are definitely a lot of clear parts in there
And maybe, I might not need to use them all
since I have not decided on how I am going to
light it up

Some not clear parts. Ha ha ah a

The warp nacelle detail and also the Bussard Collector
Notice the outer 6 holes which is just right for the 3mm
LEDs

Clear domes for the top and bottom saucer

So, this is a just a brief look-see to see if the parts are damaged or not. In the meantime, it will go into storage until my other projects are finished. But I am already working on the electronics for this.

Enterprise NX-01 C

The saucer detail is quite nice but this time,
I will not be doing any painting since the
painting scheme is so complex unlike the
Enterprise 1701A. And even getting the
masking template is expensive too

Most of the holes which have lights, are actually
moulded to let you fit in LEDs and other lighting
as it was designed by Polar Lights to be. But they
are no longer producing this kit anymore and
not only that, I think they have ceased to exist

Inside the saucer, there is a lot of space

I definitely have to do something about the Photon
torpedo tubes

Enterprise NX-01 B

Finally, I got the chance to open the box this morning and I guessed as much. It is crammed with a lot of parts. Since I do not have the time to open everything, etc. I am just going to have a brief look.

The saucer is huge

Fully laid out, there are a lot of parts, just
like those huge Master Grade Gundam
kits. But for now, this is what I want

This is the top saucer detail

I might have a small problem in this area when
lighting it up because the small itty bitty thing
at the top of the square is the spotlight, which
is too small to insert any LEDs at all
So, I might have to cheat a bit...

Enterprise NX-01 A

As I was watching the Postman delivering letters to my staff on the CCTV, I was not aware of what happened there. Apparently, there was a package for me but since it was so big, the postman gave a delivery card to her telling her to go collect it herself. And when I looked at the card, the collection can only be done on 5th April, which is tomorrow. So, seeing that there is an address stamped on the card, I decided to drop by.

Fortunately, the address was for the Post Office inside the Kepong Jaya Jusco, which is just literally across our office. When I approached the counter, I was told that since today was the 4th of April, the package has not arrived yet and if I still want to collect it, I would have to go to Jinjang, which is about 5km away.

So, on I go to that far-away Jinjang place (I would not tell you the History about this place yet) and only to be told that this was the wrong Post Office after waiting in queue for quite a bit. So, on I go, back across the road to the parcel center. And when I got it, I knew what is was.

Still, I was a bit disappointed and also elated. The box was a bit too small, compared to the 1/350 scale Enterprise-A and it was dented. Still I was happy that I got THE PACKAGE. Ha ha ha ha

This is what I got

And when I looked at it...........

I realised the dent is not too severe

I just hope that there not too many parts,
no thanks to the Postmen

NISMO Waja

Sometimes, I just could not help wondering what went through their minds when these people want to have some "gaya" (Style) on their cars. Take this one, for example. The Proton Waja is, I think, a Campro edition. And it uses a SOHC (Single Over-Head Cam) Engine, not a DOHC. Not only that, there are no Nissan parts for the Waja.

Unless the owner actually wanted a Nissan but could not afford to purchase one since the very much "protected" Proton cars are cheaper.

OK, it does look nice with the NISMO URL link and all

But this one, I really have to laugh out loud
How high are the cams? And on a closer look,
I think the rims are not matching

I love these mini shark-fins, though

The Trip up North (again)

We are going up there again. Sigh. Nothing to post much about, but only this time, driving back down with the help of Mr. Moon, the highway roads were bright enough and the only exciting part was the midnight mist.

This is a very foggy picture. Really.
But there is no way I am getting out
of the car, set up the tripod and get
run-over in the process

SuperGlue on the Phone

I was called to a customer's place because his phone was "out". By the time I arrived, and managed to get more information from him, he said he could not hear anyone on the handset. One look at the handset and I knew what happened.

1) He uses the phone a lot
2) Its at the corner, so most probably it dropped a lot
3) The cord to the handset is stretched, so he moves a lot

Once you pull it too far, the plastic tab breaks.
And usually, most customers would use those
cellophane tapes but this guy uses Superglue

After breaking most of the plastic parts, I managed
to get it out, and re-crimped a new plug for him
since the olugs are useless now

Competition

Nowadays, it is normal to see enterprising people putting up their mobile numbers to advertise their services. More commonly so, are those who are in the business of repairing punctured motorcycle tires. For you see, a motorcyclist does not carry any spare tubes or tires since they have no space in there. Nor would they carry any emergency repair kit as this would usually mean installing a carrier box at the back of the bike. I am assuming the box is not popular because it makes the bike looks a bit weird.

With the advertisements plastered/sprayed almost everywhere, especially at Petrol Stations, you could see that it is a very competitive business. I took a picture next to the pump and there were three numbers. The first two were crossed out and with the words "Changed Number" added to it. I was thinking, maybe these two were his competitors, so he crossed them out and put his number next to them, since it would be quite sometime before his competitors came back to "update" their territories. Ha ha ha ha

Did he really change his number?

PWM

I have used the tested PWM module from Flowcode and used it to light up an LED with a PIC16F628A, which is quite nice.

This is a simple flow

You can see the video. Ignore the noise as my daughter was curious too

The Spray B

Aaaaahhhhh!!!!
(Mommy runs for cover)

The bicycle! Point it at the bicycle!
No! Not the neighbours!

Not the boxes too!
Sigh

The Spray A

OK, this is how you wash your bicycle

Let me try, Mommy! Let me try!

Alright, here you are, just squeeze the trigger....

No! No! Point it at the bicycle!
The bicycle!

Who did that?

It was late into the night by the time we came back from Penang and (unluckily) Kristine was still awake. So, when the saw what I had bought, she wanted some, which I innocently gave her....

This is a very nice biscuit which Kristine loved (for that night)

And the next day, we also discovered that these biscuits
tend to leave a lot of crumbs........ oh-oh. So, I had to mop
the floors again

As usual, Kaelynn was unaware of her elder sister's
midnight snack

Teelseed Oil? I thought I bought sesame oil......

The trip up North E

The Tom Yam satay and the chicken satay, which
I did not notice much because I was more interested
in the lack of onions and weird pear-like fruits. The
curry sauce in the background looked plentiful but its
only 0.5 cm thick. Ha ha ha ha

This is the place we went to, and well, forgot about
it later on. If you asked me where it was, I can't
even tell you because I have absolutely no idea

The trip up North D

After rushing from Alor Setar and completed the task in Penang, we were about to go home but the Bridge was jammed with cars from both direction. So, we scouted around and finally settled at some place which is near to the Paradise Hotel or something. I was too tired to notice anything except for the food placed in front of me.

This kuey teow is delicious, with prawns and
duck's egg

Then the sauce for the loh bak (I think) looks
devilishly delicious

OK, so only the sauce was nice..........ahem

But this noodle, I don't know what they call it,
is very very nice

Trip up North C

One last look, this is going to be a big system

The next one was in Penang

Yep. No one was there and the customer wants it
up, so we installed it but that's as fars as we went

After getting lost for a bit, we found the place
and bought loads of biscuits and also sesame
oil.

Trip up North B

All the old phones too

This drink did not do what its supposed to do

The finished system

And all packed up, ready to be taken away
