I can't seem to upload pictures I took of my trip to Alor Setar today. Today's post would be what was in my mind when we were driving (for 5 hours) on the way there. So, I saw a lot of padi fields which got me into thinking about cows...........
So, i fyou have herd this before, moove on.
-If a cow has periods, how do we know its on PMS?
-If a truck carrying corn collides with a cow, do we get corned beef?
-Are we committing cowslaughter id we tell jokes to cows?
-If cows ate beef, do we call them cownibals or just plain mad?
-Can we call a sleeping bull a bulldozer?
-If a cow dies, can we just say that it has mooved on?
-Why is it so difficult to be bullish in a herd mentality?
-If rude chickens use fown language, would cows use horny words?
-Why is a horny cow not a bull?
-Would a cow be four times more alert to their gut feelings than a human?
-If cows have bells, what would bulls have?
-If a cow likes to eat Sea-Bass, is it because of the deep down feeling it would get?
Yeah, I know. I was traumatised because I lost my iPaq stylus during a highway stop when it (the iPaq) fell out of my waist pouch.
The King and Neo
The showdown was tonight at Al Kenchana, Subang where the two Forummers involved were going to chew it out.
One thing about the Internet is that things move very fast, almost at the speed of lunch. If you posted a thread that offended another, chances are, things would have snowballed into a big mountain and come back and bite you.
Making a beeline there once I came back from Temerloh, I would have expected a heated argument. But since I know the both of them, they settled it the Gentlemen way, apologising and shaking hands.
At the end of the day, every misunderstanding was cleared and also, everyone got to know each other better. Me? I got free drinks and enjoyed my first TT* of the year.

An Eventful day
Well not, actually.
Today was the day where we, as Management, sat down for our Annual Review and Budgeting. So, after our analysis, we are on track but there are certain areas which needs to look into.
Then, I was reminded to have my tyres changed since its already been one year. This time, I am going to fit back into the "50" tyres and not "55" as they keep rubbing into the car's upper wheel arch. All was fine until the tyre man came over and showed me other stuff. My car needed to have other things changed such as bottom engine mounting, steering cover (forgot what it was), gaskets, and air-con ball bearings. So, I had to fork out another RM200 or so. Ouch.
The bad thing was that the car would be ready by four in the afternoon, which means I cannot travel up to Alor Star (Five hours drive) by then unless I plan to stay the night at a Hotel (not again).
However, by three in the afternoon, we received a call from one of our customer in Temerloh that their phone system is out of order (Which we classified as System Down*). Since my car was not ready, my colleague decided to use his car while I get all the tools ready.
After one and a half hours drive, we made it and the customer was impressed that we responded so fast. Although we had dealers there, we decided to pay our loyal customer a personal visit.
And when we came back, it was almost nine at night and after clearing our stuff, its time to go to Al Kenchana. One the way there, my car drives woderfully, except for the rear wheels. Since it was from the front's "55", now it kept scratching the rear wheel arch when I corner or go through a hump too fast. So, I would have to get the mechanic to raise the height of the suspensions for another 12 months. Ha ha ha ha!

After the Meeting, its time for Lunch!
We have some cookies, lemang, Fried Noodles and the cake!

I mixed Wine with some Orange, drank a few glasses before someone tells me that its about 17%
Oh no! I get drunk at 7%!!!!!

*System Down - Where the Phone System does not work at all. This is an emergency situation where we drop whatever we're doing, and whoever is the nearest to the customer must respond.
Escaping a Police Summons
I was driving along the North-South Highway, coming back from Klang.
There was this Waja Police car, which overtook me and then went to my left. After a few minutes, they blared their siren which caught my attention. I looked at the driver and he motioned me to "move on".
Which I did.
Then the siren blared again and this time, he horned me. Which means I have to stop at the roadside.
After I stopped my car, I waited for them to come over. And I made sure by safety belt was still on.
Did I speed beyond 110 Km/h?
Something wrong with my Road Rax?
Was it my license plate?
Or was it my gold window tinting?
No, no, no and no.
The driver then asked me for my driving license and he looked at my car from all angles. What caught his eye were the huge boxes inside. So, after walking around my car, he said,
Him: "What is this?" [He pointed to the boxes in the rear]
Me : "Empty boxes, Sir. I am taking it back to our office's rubbish bin, on behalf of my customer"
Him: "Where's your Office?"
Me : "In Kepong, just a few more kilometres, Sir"
Him: You should be driving a van instead of a car. Where is your van?"
Me : "My staff took it and since it was an emergency, I had to use the car"
Him: "This is wrong (the boxes) I can give you a summons. You want summons or not?" And he is showing his summons book to you.
[This is the opening part where, if you are scared of the Law and think you are in the wrong and want to "settle" it, you have the chance to reply by saying, "Tuan, how to settle?"]
Since I was rushing back for our company meeting, I gave him a cocky* "I dare you" look and cooly said, "Saman la". I mean, if I am going to get summoned for a few empty cartons, might as well make full use of it.
The Police driver looked at me for a moment and then said, "OK, I give you back your license and if tomorrow I catch you, I will summon you"
And I smiled and said, "Thank you, sir."
But seriously, it is an offense to carry all that stuff and tools in a private car. I should be using a van instead. So, do not do this.

Greediness
"Please share this with everyone in the Office", I said to the clerk as I gave her the Cadbury's Chocolate bar I bought from the Airport on Sunday night. I walked away to catch up with the Office's status and the problem cases my technician encountered.
After more than 10 minutes, when I came back, the chocolates were literally gone. I was not happy how it was shared. You see, the big bar of chocolate has about 9 rows with 4 cubes each which is 36 cubes in total. So, the sharing was like this 2 rows (8 cubes) for each of the three girls and my tech and one row for me.
This leaves the Management with no chocolate.
I had to call them over quietly and ask them about the Management's and other staff's share. And all I got was that silent "Oops! You caught me with my hands in the cookie jar" look.
Maybe they're just young or really love chocolates. And this was not a test to see how they think.
But whaterever it is, indirectly, I now know how they think. Which is a big disappointment.

Trip to Sarawak Part Five (Sunday)
[This was a draft]
Last day in Sarawak.
Today is Sunday and I can't wait to go back home. Its not because I was tired going from place to place, waiting for planes and mostly, I missed my Kristine.
I took another morning walk about town and snapped some more pictures. Since my check-out time was 12 noon, I have nothing else to do but to read the Sunday papers again and again at the lobby until the Taxi driver comes at two in the afternoon. Luckily for me, he called up at one and aksed if I do not mind going to the airport earlier. Heck, I replied, "Come and get me now!"

This Hotel is good! I was wondering if I get Sunday breakfast today and then, this coupon appeared

My last breakfast, hard boiled eggs, kuey teow, and other things I forgot what it was

This guy just pulled up a chair while I was gone, ate his breakfast and left
He was so hungry, he did not notice me taking his picture

Damn! They scratched my luggage!
Then again, this is a Worldwide Disease

Trip to Sarawak Day Four (Saturday)
So, today is Saturday and since I have done all my tasks and my flight is not due until Sunday, I have two choices. From the Hotel window, I can see there is a beach far away. This means I can either explore the town or go to the beach. I decided to walk around the town once more, since last night's outing was more of getting lost and looking for "proper" food (like MacDonalds la).
There were two shopping centres which I remembered from the taxi trip and after getting my bearings right, both of them were lined up in a straight line (following the main road) from the Hotel and the furthest was just about half an hour's walk away. A little further more, there was a toy shop (about four shoplots long!!! called Belle's or Moments) where I got a nice Teddy Bear for Kristine, only to find out its from Shah Alam.
For the rest of the day, it was hot so I decided to go back to the Hotel and yes, sleep. With two big packs of Milo, a 7-up Ice, potato salad and some bread, I am set for the rest of the day/night.

Morning view from the Hotel Dynasty

This is a very nice lamp........

And a very interesting notice

The amostphere at the buffet is quite nice

This what I had.........

And my second helping......

Followed by porridge........

Someone tipped the dustbin over.....

I just can't help not taking this picture

They put a Volks on the roof!!!

So, it spun......

and spun.....

and spun......

I got this Teddy Bear for Kristine

One bad thing about watching Hotel's own (DVD) show is that either you wait hours for the show to be played or halfway through, they rewind and restart the DVD again. So, I had to watch XXX part II almost twice

It was raining the whole night

There was a mirror in front of this one, so the effect is kinda nice

This is how I looked like after hours of non-stop TV

Trip to Sarawak Day Three (Friday)
Although everything is still on schedule, I was not happy as if it wasn't for yesterday's delay, I could have been in Miri today. But then again, small flights are prone to such incidents. Anyway, there is only two flights to Miri today and I have to make sure that I get it (as the first one was at 0630). Unfortunately, apart from the slight delay (again), I was not able to get the last flight back to KL for the night. There was one for tomorrow morning at 0630 on Saturday but it was a Business Class which I would have to top up. So, I had to settle for Sunday's 1550 flight instead. Yeah, I could have either pay the difference or even buy another ticket from Miri to Kuching and then get a ticket from there to KL. Since I was rushing to make sure I catch the customer before they close for the week at 1730, I settled for Sunday's flight.
So, I had about less than two hours to visually check all phones, program them, repair the cabling and also replace those broken ones. Because if I cannot, I would have to wait until Monday.
My colleague whose was in Sabah, had to return to the customer again as they have discovered a new complication. They even got their own staff to pick him up from the airport and also send him back. But by the time he was finished, he got the chance to see his plane fly off without him.......
Anyway, for the next two days, I am stuck in Miri. I could have made an extra effort to try to get back on saturday but I am already exhausted.
0800 - Breakfast in Hotel. No buffet
0830 - Visited customer in Bintulu
1330 - Flight to Miri was delayed to 1415
1530 - Visited customer in Miri
1830 - Checked in to Hotel Dynasty
1715 - Explored Miri after a nice shower
2240 - Sleeping time
Midnight to 4AM - Can't sleep. Watched Waterboy, Die another Day and bits of other movies (while drifting in and out of sleep)

So I settled for 2 sausages and eggs and a coffee (Orange juice is extra)

Sarawak Trip Day Two (Thursday)
When I arrived from Kuching last night, it was already after 7pm. So, I have no choice but to stay a night at the Hotel. One good thing was, at the airport, when I was getting a taxi, I did asked them if there were any Hotels nearby my customer's place. So, the taxi driver took me to the Hotel which is just right behind my customer. One thing I can say about Sibu town is that the main streets were quite clean and a there were not much cars. After my dinner at SugarBuns, only did I manage to walk further into the town. There was a Pasar Malam going on and most of the stuff there were not usually found in KL. Some of the stalls were very convincing. For example, they will leave a watch inside a tupperware full of water and the price tag of RM15. I nearly bought one since it was quite cheap. The main difference is this Pasar Malam was that most of the stalls catered to drinks (usually Soya Bean) and fried foods. I bought three flashing trinkets for RM2 (and I left behind two in the Hotel) where other places would be selling for RM4.90.
This morning, before going over to see my customer, I took a walk around the town again. And it was a stark contrast to the night life. The place was full of people going about their business. Before I visited my customer, I decided to pay a visit to a "well known" company who used to be a Major Dealer (in Sarawak) with my ex-company. After wasting precious time looking for the right person, the whole experience left me with a bitter taste in the mouth.
We had to rely on oustation Dealers who can arrive at our customer's doorstep first. But due to their reputation, especially where monies are concerned, we decided not to engaged them. I made this decision after I had the chance to observe how their Technical Manager tried to diagnose a simple Keyphone. Its like asking a Proton mechanic to repair your Mercedes.
After my tasks in Sibu was completed, it was time to go to the next destination. Since my flight was at 1550, I had already checked-in by 1330. However, after a long wait, the 1550 Fokker 50 flight was delayed to 1615 and eventually to 1635. This shattered my chances to trying to catch the evening flight to Miri. So, I had to stay the night in Bintulu, which means more expenses.
0830 - Had breakfast and took a walk
0930 - Visited a former dealer. Now I know why they are "former" dealers
1000- Visited two customer sites.
1550 - Flight to Bintulu was delayed to 1635
1730 - Arrived in Bintulu but customer closes at 1730
1740 - Checked in to Hotel Li Hua
1930 - Took a taxi to town for dinner and a bit of exploration as I could not find anything near the Hotel
2115 - Town was boring (not much shopping centres) so found a Cybercafe to pass the time
2215 - Taxi appointment came and went back to Hotel

The hotel room view with the swimming pool and the river
I regretted not packing my swimming trunks

Something new for breakfast, fried corned beef which is good
The Kuey Teow and Fried Rice was good too because it tasted so different

A lot of people were fishing by the river

I am not sure what this is but it looked so magnificent

And this is an equivalent of Airport for ferries.
I just forgot the term for it.

And these are some of the ferries

This is the evening view from Hotel Li Hua in Bintulu
After the rain, I went out to look for dinner

Rice with sitr fried pork and a can of Coke for RM4.00

What were you thinking?
And there she is...........
You would know this feeling.
In your Boss's party, you really had to go to the toilet to take a dump. Tonight is the night where he will announce the staff's promotion, particularly, yours. In the toilet, the flush did not work. You tried pulling the handle again and again. After one last pull, all the dirty stuff went away. So, you turned around, straightened yourself, ready to walk out of the door. And there was this strange gurgling sound........
You turned around and looked straight into the toilet bowl. Suddenly, all the dirty stuff you flushed away shot out and landed straight into your white shirt which you borrowed earlier from one of your Manager. And worst of all, the toilet is starting to flood with sewage. So, you quickly decided that its best to sneak away out of the toilet and away from the party.
Unfortunately, when you opened the door, your Boss was standing outside..............
Ha ha ha ha ha! OK, so this is how I felt when I met her.
I was at my customer's place, all sweaty and a bit messed up (as I was climbing amongst the cobwebs). When she walked in the front door. The only word I can utter was, in my jaw-dropping composure, "You were on kennysia....". To cut the long story short, she was there with another ex-colleague of mine (small World) and we took a photo. Then the situation embarassingly shifted to "catching-up" conversation between my ex-colleague and myself, leaving her alone. Later on, we tried calling Kenny but he was out of town, unfortunately. And since I was rushing to complete my Sarawak Amazing Race tasks, I had to bid "Julie" farewell. The Manager there was kind enough to get one of his man to drive me to town. Then I realised I could have had lunch with them as I was hours too early for the plane to Sibu.
