15102012 Trip to KK

Its another trip to KK and this time, we really have a mission. And so, HM's plans for our future is starting to take place, whether I agree to it or not. OK, OK, I agree. Wholeheartedly one hundred thousand millions super-duper percent. But its damn far from Pasar Road (sob... sob...)

The very first step is this, which I would like to DIY on. Nothing special, just a simple white paint and a light.

 

While we were cleaning up, I snuck into my 'Workroom' and found this Gundam MS006. Why did I buy it? It was because I think, I was fascinated with this model ever since I got the two (red and blue) GundamFix toys.

Here's me trying to make it look like a Macross Valkyrie like those posters you see. But all I can only manage was an erected dick.

Come evening, we had some very nice little dinner at Esquire Kitchen. Since most of the waiters and waitresses were busy, I quietly went to their station and got myself some nice selection of sauces.

And the girls are happy because each has their own Tropicana Orange

And like me, they started to mix drinks...

Although the food came very fast, the girls whacked them as soon as the landed on the table.

Yes, yes. I am taking pictures as I have a lot of time. Once they have 'finished' their meals, its my turn as DBKL...

So, in any way, I am trying to tell you but I cannot say too much as the plans are slowly coming together and I would have my own room. Understand, ya?

Daddy the flier

Kristine made this for me. Or was it Kaelynn? I could not remember but I just love getting presents from them. No, I am not going to say its the best present ever and I am going to keep it, etc. Because there are other better presents which you cannot place a value on it.

Real Life car Puzzle game

Do you remember a puzzle game called Rush Hour? This is a puzzle where you need to move the bus/cars left and right or up and down so that your car can come out of the parking lot Hell. I twas quite popular so much so that it went from a normal puzzle box into a computer software version. I wondered of there is such a thing like this which inspired this game.

Well, I found my answer (sort of) when I was at the customer's place in OSK Plaza. As there were insufficient parking for Visitors, I was presented with a very unique solution: A moving parking lot.

I have seen this on some other buildings but this was implemented on a larger scale. Perhaps there are other such solutions in the Golden Triangle but would mean I have to park in every building. And this would encourage me to see more customers! Yay!

When I first drove the car into the Basement level, I was taken aback when I saw these rows of cars, with no maneuvering space. OH, there is one. But.. its... at... the... back...

Looking closer, I realised that these cars were on top of a sliding platform. Interesting.

Now, this is a very intimidating experience because there were no instructions and everyone within hearing vicinity is watching you to make your first move. Eventually, one helpful chap showed me how to do it.

Let's say your car or there is an empty platform in there, all you have to do is punch the appropriate number on the main control and then stand back. The whole platform system will then slide about until the one you wanted in in front of you.

I don't have a video of this but its amazing. The only fear is that when it breaks down and you're late for your appointment/lunch/break/go-home-time....

Hacked

Well, this is the first time my Yahoo! Mailbox got hacked into. And its very easy to know because your friends would be calling up or SMS-ing you asking about YOUR latest E-mail (which, as far as you know, you did not send, of course)

Wolfpack 1/32 F/A-18 Ejection Seat

I got this from Hobby HQ the other day. My guess is, its been sitting there for ages and I did not take any notice until I started to explore the counter since there were no new arrivals for some time. This is a resin kit from Wolfpack, which is for a 1/32 F-18 model. But to me, its a good enough seat for my kit-bashing projects. There was another ejection seat, which was for, I think, for a AV-8B Harrier but I was too late to get it because it took me days to make up my mind. Anyway, I got this pack, which is for two seats and with the discount given, it was worth the price...

This is for a F18. The reason I got it was because there was talk that the new Battlestar Galactica Viper mk.II were using such seats but was heavily modified. Being in itchy finger mode, I decided to get one, but not for the Moebius Mk.II Viper model kits. These seats are so beautifully detailed, it would be a shame to waste it. I like how they pack the parts in a very tight blister pack. Simple and (maybe) cost effective.

For RM59.90 (before reduction) , these are the parts you get. The only problem I can see so far, in my limited modeling experience, are the problems in shaving off the square resin base.

You can see the fine details of the models and just leaving it as it is, its still perfect. As there are no bubbles in the casting, the quality speaks for itself. I have left this at the 800x600 resolution for the all the pictures here for you to look at the details close-up.

Since this is a 1/32 scale seat, when I put a 1/35 figure on it, it looks quite alright. But in actual scale, the seat would look slightly bigger to the figure. Then again, what do I know about ejection seats...

Case of the Frustrated Bulging Fist

This is the result of anger. Anger that things are not moving at the pace I wanted as I have followed the rules and flow of the company. There is always that 'one step' which eludes me. As the rules do not allow me to smash that person's face, I had to take it out on the wall. Alas, the wall retaliated too...

You have heard of shadow cabinets and other shadow stuff, right? I particularly liked the concept of a shadow cabinet. Here, this is a different kind of shadow. A shadow cop, whose job is to hide under the shadows, ready to punch on unsuspecting law-breakers. But today, I think he either needs to slim down more, or find a bigger pole...

2nd Hand Cars

I got in touch with another SFTPMS member, by the name of Lucas, who is starting his hobby again after a lapse of so many years. He mentioned that he knew me when I was still hanging around Miniature Hobbies in 1-Utama in the late 90's. The funny part was, I don't really much recall his face since I was always there, looking at the models instead of people.

Reflecting back on this, I think I could have missed out on meeting a lot of people who could have steered my life. And then, maybe not. Anyway, the reason I met him was he had some old partially built models which he wanted to get rid of and so, I was willing to get some from him since I am still at the Ma.K craze. Hey, getting 2nd models for kit-bashing is like eating your own organic vege you bought from your neighbour.

These are the two models, both in 1/24, wiht one from Hasegawa's PERT's Misubishi EVO VII and Tamiya.'s Ferrari F40

 

The EVO is a beginning built stage and so, I shall leave it alone for the moment since I suck at cars.

The Ferarri F40 on the other hand, is almost completed and so, its ripe for my evil plans...

Just looking at it, I already have ideas. Such as, making this as truck, for farmers...

 

But in reality, I am thinking about its engine, which, can be a part of a building detail

Anyway, its going to the 'to-do' bin for the moment as there are more important stuff on my mind...

New Waja Tyres

Not sure what happened but this new format is really screwing up with my post. Sheesh, Google.

OK, I need some traction for the shoes because of some stupid embarrassing side-effect; I keep sliding around on the office's floor. Everyday, its like working in a skating rink, where every step I take, I have to adjust my center of gravity and hang on to table edges. So, I have to do something about it, and that something, is to have a RM35.00 so-called upgrade.

Yep, an upgrade which costs 50% of the price of the shoe. In other words, I had some anti-slip mat glues to the bottom of my shoes...

Cheating the Clown

OK, so we went to the Clownhouse and got some toys. Oh, yeah, we ate something funny there too. As for the girls, they got some monkey stuff instead.

And so, using old school, I just navigate the ball bearing and drop it into the mouth, seven times. Yay. That is until Kaelynn just knocked it accidentally, and I realised, you just give it 7 hard knocks, the result was the same. So, in other words, there is no optical sensor but a mechanical spring or something. I mean, I should have realised this since in mass production, an optical sensor would cost more than a simple spring.

More stuff from Pasar Road

Just want to show you some of the stuff I got from Pasar Road a few days ago. Actually, it was not impulsive buying but more like stocking up for the future project plans.

 

On the left is an 8-pin SOIC to DIL adaptor while on the right is another project box.

The reason I got this was I could foresee myself dabbling into the SMD version of the PIC chips and so, since it was right there in front of me, I got it. But thinking back, if I were to get it from the Internet, I could have saved about 40% but at the risk of getting the wrong item.

This is the first time I bought this 'T-box', outside from my usual electronic shop as they ran out of stock. Yes, I have actually lost my CCTV mkII tester right after I resigned from the last job as I could not remember nor locate the damn thing. All I know is that its somewhere, hiding in the house, with the corrosive battery juice leaking....

For this money I paid for, this casing can be considered splash-proof. Please understand the difference between splash-proof and water-proof. I am (maybe) going to make another CCTV tester which looked water-proof but is in fact, splash-proof.

Hey, what do you know... a battery compartment for a 9volt battery. But alas, the metal contacts does not come with the box and if I really need it, I can tell you that the monkeys in that shop could not even find one because battery contacts do not have standards in theri sizes.

OK, this is what I think was the plans for MK.III. There are more details to it and some improvements. Don't ask me because I lost this one and 'forgot' to 'scan' the original.

This is one of the plans for the MK.II because there were a lot of variations to the design, which until know, I am not even sure which is which...

And so, with these two items now with me, I am confident that if my plans go well, they will be used to their maximum capacity. In actual fact, I should try out the SOIC to DIL adaptor right now. yeah, right now. This means, I have to order some chip from the manufacturer, right now. Yeah, right now.

That is, if I want to be killed by the HM. Work comes first. Right now. Yeah, right now.

Home improvements

Blogger has changed format and its very difficult for me to get to the normal layout which I am accustomed to. This is very noticeable in the photos caption page. Also, the more important thing is the date and time format which is lost and I have to once again, rifle through the photos for the actual day and time of events. Sheesh, Google.

And so, right after the trip to Toys r Us, our next destination is very important. We need to get some things to 'update' the place to a better spec since it was neglected for years. And not only that, there is a time limit before the CON goes away. Since Houz Depot was nearby, we decided to take a looksee.

As you can see right now, the girls are getting very very hungry. So I had to get them something to eat while we continued with more shopping as we could not put it off anymore.

In the meantime, the girls were left to their own devices, much to the consternation of the sales staff walking around the place.

Beeswax for Bruce but this is obscenely expensive. I mean, RM68.90 for one tub when he got it for much cheaper elsewhere. However, both of us now realise that there are more than one 'flavour' such as 'Jacobean Dark Oak', and 'Antique Pine' apart from 'Natural''

This is a very nice design and I love the way the bed WILL be mounted. Unfortunately, the price does not include the mattress. And so, it will be nothing more than a useless hunk of wood and leather (sour grape mode)

Dinner time and its off to another locaion, which is the PJ Seafood. which is located 'behind' Houz. OK, a few hundred metres behind Houz Depot.

An right, away, for some weird reason, you can see that the place is in Full House mode. With so much people in there, it was so difficult to get a table let alone navigate our way through the crowd. And surprisingly too, the service was fast and efficient as well.
