Trip to Labuan Part II

OK, so this time, no more airplane shots. After a few trips, it tends to get pretty boring. While we listened to the compulsory but boring airplane safety lecture by those Air Stewardesses, I began to interpret these stuff differently to pass the time.

If the Immigration Officer comes, you can hide in
the comparment above you and stuff your bags
under the seat

I lost the idea for this one. Move on, please

If there are no more space, you may open the Emergency
Door and jump out from there. But make sure you have
purchased the RM399.99 parachute well beforehand.

In our efforts to provide the best in-flight entertainment,
we have installed the AAC 2000 air slide for our passengers
who likes outdoor activities. Recovery bungee cords are
optional at RM799.95 each

Although this is a no-frills flight, we do have some standards
to maintain. Old fashioned Mobile Phones with antennas or
with bent pointy parts sticking out are not allowed into the plane.

If, in any case our air-conditioning is not working, please
assume the necessary positions in case your neighnours
have bad underarm odour.

And in extreme cases where the Air Stewardess has turned your
lunch into cinders, you may assume crawling position if you need
to go to the loo. Please bear in mind, the Nasi Kunyit special do
emit toxic fumes when it is burnt.

When you are in the plane, please pull only the cord on your left
If you pull both together, the vest will squeeze and pop your hear off

Our vest have special compartments where you may store
those alcohol you have bought earlier.

Never ever play Ping Pong with Superman

Trip to Labuan Part I

So, I was required to go to Labuan as the customer there needs to have their phones serviced last Monday. To me, I have never been to Labuan except that its mostly related to the Oil Industry and the Duty-Free stuff there is cheaper than Langkawi, or so I was told.

I was one of the few early passengers in the waiting lounge at LCCT

Boy, for a moment, I thought AirAsia downgraded their staff

Well, well, well, so, this is where they make
those announcements which you can barely hear

I would definitely love to see what's behind those doors

This is one particular scene which you would not like to see
especially when you have paid more than RM500.00 for your tickets

The "Buy & Fly" cafe has this nice nasi lemak which sells for
RM7.00. Once you have chosen and paid for it, the guy would
plonk it into the microwave oven where he will nuke it for you
I chose this dish because of the nice sambel (top right) but when
I used my spoon on it, it was so little
Then my day went downhill from there.

The Artist from our hands

Maybe it was the wrong decision to give her a pen. But then again, you have to start somewhere. There was a slight problem when she took the pen with her hand. Maybe it still early but she used her left hand. I was born left-handed but "trained" to be right-handed when I was small. So, this explains why I am constantly fighting with myself. Deep inside I worry what else Kristine has inherited from me. I am not going to get much sleep tonight...........

So, this explains why I love to draw more and used images to explain stuff.
Really.

OK, so this wall painted by us would not last long anyway.
I should have chosen those glossy types which is easy to wipe

In the end, Mommy gave Kristine some paper

But she used her dress, legs and other surfaces instead

While we were distracted by the TV, she went back to
finishing her masterpiece

Yep, south-paw indeedy

And the worse thing is, when I eat with my hands, esp on Nasi Lemak or Banana Leaf, I feel much more comfortable using my left hand, which I should not be doing so.

Going to the Playground

I loved taking her to the Playground so that she can get some exercise without breaking stuff about the house.

Weekend with Kristine

So, the flu is making its round and everyone I know is suffering from one. And so did Kristine, but hers cleared up after two days. Wow.

While everyone is sick, she is jumping about in the house and my hands were full. And everyone is trying to avoid babysitting her..........

See the river of booger slime from her nose?
And she is even willing to share it with you

So, I took her into the spare room and she decided to
mess with my photo stuff and other junk

Then she tried my helmet

And later on, she rummaged my tools

Until I stopped her with a juicy plum

During dinner, she loves the hot herbal soup

And when its finished, she wants Mommy's brocoli

Well, this is Kristine after I chased her round and round
trying to get her into fresh clothes

Well, it failed so we tried drying her hair instead

Later on, she rummaged my wallet

Sigh. And I have to pick up a lot of stuff off the floor

The Proton Aquarium

Well, I used to see this a lot a few years ago. It was quite common in the mid-90's whether you suffered a fender bender or not. And when my friend had it, I was so tempted to cut some small polystyrene fishes and put it in there............. ha ha ha ha

There is no other way to get the water out quickly
except to drill a small itty bitty hole. I wanted to do
that but my friend stopped me.

Mr. Fuji-san is back

The Nurse called me on Thurday, saying Mr. Fuji-san has recovered completely from the procedure and I can visit him. But because left the money at home, and because there was a lot of documentation to do in the office, I decided to let Mr. Fuji-san rest for another night since the Nurse promised me they would not charge me extra.

And so, on Friday, at nearly the same time I brought him to the Hospital, I took him back. The price to pay was well worth it when I saw him. So, we quickly went back to the office where a party was held in his favour.

Room 11-1-1, where Mr. Fuji-san was recuperating

Mr. Fuji-san enjoying his favourite four-pack
in his "Welcome Back" party
But I told him to stay away from Ms. Olympus and the WD40

Mr. Fuji-san is already starting to focus on his job
(I used software to turn the pricture right-side up)

He is doing nicely, but in this shot, I used software to blur the picture

Put yourself in their shoes

The beam from the Sun tingles your face and you wake up from a nice sleep.
You push yourself up on the bed, and walked over to your bathroom.
You brush your teeth, and wash your face.

Simple little things that you can do in just 10 minutes

But what if, your legs are not working that day?

You have to use your hands
You have to push yourself
You have to drag your wheelchair over to you
You have to push yourself up from the bed and onto the wheelchair
You have to make an effort to go to the bathroom
And hope someone did not leave the toothpaste on the top shelf again

Simple is it? Now go tie your legs together and try again.

Imagine how difficult that was.

Now, imagine, how difficult it is when you go out to a place where everything was designed for people who can walk on their own two legs over kerbs and giant drains, who can see with their own eyes to avoid oncoming traffic and dark places, who can brace themselves with their own hands should they fall.

What is this place, you ask?

Bolehland, of course. The heart of "Tidak Apa" minded people.

Now, read how it affected Peter Tan

Mr. Fuji-san in ICU Part II

I got a call from the Nurse today.

Fuji-san's prognosis is not good.

He is suffering from a very bad spine injury and his nervous system is in a bad shape. Some of the nerves to the spine were unable to connect properly which led to his comatose condition. With no other living relatives, and since I was the closest to him, I consented to his operation which is to be scheduled within the next seven days.

And because it is an urgent case, I can help settle the bill when I see him next week, after the operation. This will give me more time to come up with the money. Sigh

The Wheel

With no Internet access for the weekend, I decided to explore Sketchup a little more. After going through one of SketchUp's tutorial which left my jaw on the floor last night, I decided to try something. Its a basic wheel but I still have yet to learn how to make it into those Off-Road wheels, the ones with those chunky rubbers sticking out.

SketchUp is free, by the way.

You start with the basic shape of the wheel
I did one here, which looked as if I had taken a slice off the wheel

Then you rotate it 360º. Because I have made the wheel into three
parts, I have to rotate them one by one

I did this halfway so I can show you how the three parts looked like

Looking a bit like some CAD design........

This is how it looked when completed

In colour

And, well, a bit more realistic

Here is the other side of the wheel

Oh, did I mention how big it was?

So, I placed it next to my other design, and this is where
my Notebook starts to struggle due to insufficient RAM

There you go, like something from a technical manual
"How to crush a bus with an Aeroplane wheel"

"Hey, let's get out of here! Some crazy guy just went through with his Lightsabre!"

Struck out

So, its been more than four days since lightning struck our area. From what I have tested, it got through:

1) ADSL Filter
2) ADSL Modem
3) Router

Yeah, this means I can only access the Net briefly in the office. But on the other hand, I managed to watch one DVD title almost to the end: John Woo's Hard Boiled.

Never thought there were so many bullets flying and also, most of the actors have not "aged" much for the past two decades or so. Wow

Mr. Fuji-san in ICU

Mr dear friend, Mr. Fuji-san, is now in ICU. It happened this morning when I was was going to work with him. He was on the seat, dozing off in his usual manner. As there was nothing interesting on the radio except for the usual Hitz.FM "Gotcha" prank calls, I decided to wake him up.

There was no response from him.

I flicked him again and it was the same.

I began to get worried as when this happened to his brother more than two years ago, the result was usually fatal. His brother suffered a torn eye muscle by the way, and slowly, the desease spread until he lost the whole eye. In the end, he was so weak and kept losing focus on the job, there was no other way but to let him go. I should have trusted my instinct when he started to forget whatever I said to him six months ago, especially after he consumed his four-packs.

"Maybe he is exhausted" I thought as I got him his favourite fresh four-pack juice. We were quite busy over the last three weeks, you see. There was a lot of shuttering and the occasional flash in the dark jokes.

Still, he did not stir.

As we had a busy schedule ahead of us, I reluctantly let Fuji-San rest while I clear all the calls. By the time I took him to the Hospital, he was already in critical condition. The Nurse tried various ways to revive Fuji-san but it was the same. She said he has to go into ICU. Unfortunately, she also mentioned that the Doctor will not be in for the weekend. So, she promised to contact me come next week.

After seeing Fuji-san carefully wheeled into the ward, I collected his belongings which the nurse has carefully wrapped: A piece of his mind and also his sun shades.

Hopefully, in a few days, I will then know what sickness Fuji-San has developed.

The morning after

This is how we felt after Kristine cried nearly the whole
night because she lost her favourite blankie

This is also the last image from my camera. I just hoped that it ran out of batteries or else, its broken. I just hope its not broken. With the baby coming, in less than weeks, I really need the camera.

Monday Morning Suicidal Madness

Everything was fine on a Monday morning. Although we anticipated that there could be a massive traffic jam as this was the start of the school term, there wasn't.

So, after dropping my wife off, I was happily cruising to my office. Bliss is where your route is free of other cars and what-nots on four wheel, and the opposite lane is trapped in a jam. Ha ha ha.

Anyway, as I was about to reach my office, I had to stop at the lights. When it turned green, I begain to make my right turn. Now, this road is a bit different as the two lanes on my left are meant for traffic going straight, while the other two lanes on where I am now, are for traffic turning into the right. Since I was the first car, I began to slowly move off. And suddenly, (out of the blind spot) a motocyclist zoomed past me.

Stupid moron thought it was fun to squeeze between the cars and thinking those at the lights would not move their cars too early. (If I was driving MY car, things would be very different now). Either that, I believe he has not achieved his "Beat the lights" quota for the morning. Luckily, he was fast enough to control his bike and still managed to avoid the other car on the opposite side of the lights.

Idiot.

This image nice or not? I did this with Google's free Sketchup Software
