More Iron Man toys

[21.10.2010 1532]

Something new here at Toys 'R' Us. I guessed the Toy Maker has run out of ideas. They are sticking Iron Man Action Figures into crude looking Arc Reactors but with the latest fascia. The the highlight of the toy? A nice little dim blue light will come on when you press the button. And that's it. No sound either. All for a measly RM69.90 which can sustain a week's worth of lunches. or half a year of buns (taking in to consideration my RM2.60 buns lasts me an average of 10 days of less)

And so, here they are, I am so tempted not to

buy them because there is nothing worth

taking the thing apart.

But yes, I can put in a remote control

device and light it up at night.

Something about Cineleisure

[18.10.2010 1331]

With the Outpost cafe gone, I still cannot understand why I still go to Cineleisure without any hesitation. I mean, The Outpost Toys is still there but this is not the main reason. Long ago, when the idea of just going there, really appealed to me even if its out of the way. Now, things as they are, the very mention of that place still makes me eager to go. I don't really understand why.

Then I realised the actual truth when I saw this....

Does it look like a X-ray shot of a Teddy Bear, a Pinball
machine or.....

a part of a female's anatomy?

How to keep them quiet

[16.10.2010 1211]

I was called by a friend of mine to help him in a small job in a house that was being built. What I needed to do was to run some audio cables through some pipes before the other contractors start to lay the foundation for big tile slabs. Practically, its a very easy job since everything was on-site.

The only problem was that on the very day, everyone in the house has gone out, leaving me and the girls alone. So, I had to bring them along, even though I know it was dangerous. But compared to leaving them alone in the house, this was just a walk in the park....

At first, they were cupping their ears because
of the drilling. And also, this was very new to
them who has never seen an uncompleted house.

I like the idea of this design except that I
cannot tell you what it is. And no, it is not
that you think it is because I purposely
took this from another angle.

In the end, the girls were 'kept' in a room which
has a completed floor. And so, their 'ballet' dance
begins.

But after a while, they got restless, and hungry
toom despite my bringing them some Oreos.
So, the owner got some table and chair and lent
them some papers, etc. And there is peace again...

By the time I had done my part, we were all ready to go home and one the way, picked up Mommy from school since I was using her car instead of mine.

Mary Chickenland

[16.10.2010 1934]

This picture is not related to what I am
about to say but Kristine's expression
was right on the spot. Why?

Because someone said "Mary Chickenland"
instead of "Chicken Maryland"

Sleeping Beasties

[11.10.2010 0046]

And yes, sometimes their fight continues into
Dreamland as well...... sigh.

Kaelynn and her apples

[11.10.2010 2137]
The school is starting to give her more homework
which we're happy. And so, tonight's work is to
draw some apples as dictated by the numbers.
Personally, they looked more like pears....
or keys... or upside-down balloon... or
tie-up satchels....

Random parts

[15.10.2010 2038]

Found this at Pasar Road. All this for Rm5.00.
What Am I going to do with it, I am not sure.
But if I use it as a source for a 1/20 Vulcan
cannon, it would look bad-ass. Very bad-ass....

The Helmet

[19.10.2010 2020]

And right after that, I went to my next appointment. This is to help another member which nexus knew. And if it was not for him, I would not even be bothered to help the young chap out. They are going to make a helmet from a certain film which will be shown in December. And so, it must be ready by November. This is my first time seeing his helmet and I must say, his progress so far is quite impressive. Other than that, I will keep my opinions to myself.
Anyway, as his helmet is not ready until the first week of November, I cannot do much because there are no measurements for me to take. For my requirement, I need to know how much space there is inside the helmet so that I can use the correct LEDs.

This is the prototype circuit. So far, what you see are the
LEDs for one side of the helmet. Once I have the other
electronics figured out, I would be needing at least three
more prototype boards. Since the pattern for the LEDs
are 'random' I basically came up with 13 sequences but
at the cost of chip memory. So, he can only select the
pattern in random.

This is his helmet so far, with my LEDs running in
the background. Its not finished yet because there
are so much more things to do. Maybe I will visit
him at the end of the month to see his progress.

The Last customer near IOI Mall

[19.10.2010 1833]

One thing about visiting customers in their office is that anything can happen. Its not always the 'going into the office, meet the customer and discuss about your product' routine. And just like today, I was not prepared for what happened.

While I parked my car, I walked to the customer's office and saw him there at the bottom floor. When he saw me, he was happy and told me to go up to his office and wait for a bit. So, I went up and waited.

And waited.

And waited.

I waited and waited.

And then I waited some more.

By the time he came up, more than an hour had passed. And feeling cold and a bit dispirited, I just gritted my teeth and carried on with my job. We had a good conversation. But the product he wanted, was took risky to produce. To wind the story up, I told him i would do my best to help but we both know the answer.

And then, after coming down, I was mentally exhausted. Why, I am not sure. And so, I sat in the car and thought what went wrong. Luckily, the engine was not running or else, I would be the one that's wrong. Permanently.

And so, to take my mind off things, I decided to take a walk at IOI Mall since its less than 300 metres from where I parked. Its been ages sicne I went to IOI and the last time, it was because of work. The only thing I can remember at IOI was the new wing which has Ace Hardware, daiso and Popular Bookstore. As for the old wing, well, it was just... there. Another reason why I needed to go there was because of a long delayed errant I was supposed to complete.....

While I was there, I got sidetracked by
this. A mousetrap. I forgot how much it
costs but that is not the point.

This is a portable mousetrap. And as you can see,
it is a very convenient solution for those "I don't
want to get my hands dirty" who believe in clinically
clean and non-guilty solutions. If there is a rat, the
red plastic flag will change position. So easy.
(On other words: If you want to kill it, then go
and kill la. No need to suffer them because
you don't like to feel guilty afterwards.)

At the back is a small trapdoor for you to put some
bait
and all you have to do is to wait for some rat
to come in
through the front door.

That is, until you reaslise that the Malaysian rats,
just like us, are all obese. The door is only for rats
who have Gym Memberships. I mean, One and a
half inch waistline? It will have better luck trapping
your lost hamsters and pet mice.

And so, after having my hearts filled up with
humour, I decided that it was time to go home.
Whooo.......... lookit the nice Sunset, Then I
remembered my forgotten errand and so, back
to IOI I went.....

If Jacky Chan endorses that anti-virus software,
why can't Ultraman do the same? And so, here
we go, Ultraman engine oil. Except that he's been
doing this years before Jackie. But do not let it
near children who will think that by drinking it,
they too, can become Ultraman.

It does not help if it comes with a plastic snout.

Anyway, I finally found what I came for and yep,
its the RM5x.xx Pledge Future Floor Polish. I
called up Bruce just to make sure that its the real
thing. It started way back in the late 90's that
some modeller found the amazing effects of dipping
clear plastic model parts into Future which gave the
effects of clear glass and hid a lot of imperfections.

So, I am not surprised that a lot of modellers swear
by it. But one day, when I have the opportunity, I
will test this along with the H2O. Of course one is
hard and the other allows for flexing.

New ideas for the Tricorders

[10.10.2010 1916]

OK, I am bored tonight. Or maybe, I should be saying, "I am being lazy" tonight. There are so many things to do and yet, in the moment of panic, I do not know which is more important. I mean, I am having at least, five projects running simultaneously. Three of them are supposed to be completed by end of this month while the other two is for next month. Serves me right for not planning properly.....

And so, to escape all that, I decided to open up my
free 2009 Tricorder, just to re-visit all the mess I
created in the first version. I mean, the wiring I've
done is crazy. I just hope Peter does not drop it too
much. And speaking of Peter, he has also modified
his Playmates Tricorder. For someone who do not
know electronics, his mod is quite impressive. So, I
will not open it up until I have done all my planning.

Teamwork

"See the small little ants working together? They all
helped take this dead insect back to their home. One
ant cannot do this alone. See the insect is many times
bigger than the ant. So, both of you must help each
other and not fight all the time. Understand?"

Both looked at me and nodded even it they don't know what I was talking about. They just want me to finish the boring story and run away......

Who said Miniature Hobby was closed?

[09.10.2010]

While I was at Hobby HQ, I overheard the latest news that MH is not closed but opens on weekends. The reason why it closed was because they could not find a replacement staff to take over the current staff who just resigned. So, they got back one of the former staff to help out, a girl by the name of Mandy. And her other male colleague? For the moment, lets call him Manly. And so, with nothing much else, I decided to hop over there asap. ASAP as in, just as soon as I can think up of an excuse to go to that area where a parking space is a figment of your imagination.

MH was not always my first choice for Model Shops ever since Kenny stopped working there long ago. It was also not my first choice even when it shifted from 1-Utama to Mid-Valley. It was still not my first choice when shifted to Section 14 PJ where I used to work nearby. And its still not my first choice when it shifted again to where it is now, in Jalan Merlimau.

To me, MH is like 7-11. You take it for granted when it is there. And usually, when you go in, unless there is something you specifically need, you end up coming out empty-handed. At the same time, you're happy that its just.... there.

OK, until further notice, they are only opened
on weekends. But this is not the good news I
am looking for.

Yep. I came all the way to see this.

And surprisingly, when I was there, they
were receiving new stocks and most of
the boxes are all over the place.

I am so tempted to buy this, the ultimate RM400
model kit of the Titanic

The details on that model is enough to make even an
anal modeller go nuts. Just look at all the photo
etch parts and the wooden details.

And surprisingly, I actually bought something!
a 1/48 Messerschmitt and a 1/350 model of a
Helicopter. And the Rm1,000,000 question?

I don't even know why I bought them. OK?

Uncle Ben's Burger Babi II

[09.10.2010 2016]

So, this is the second week of having the burger. And like the first one, this time, its just nice. Maybe its just me as after the initial euphoria, the burger seemed OK. Still above ordinary, but OK. or maybe, its the girl who cooked it. But still, I am grateful to be able to eat this burger. Anyway, if we were to eat out every Saturday, I think I would have to make sure I get the pork burger everytime. Unless its not the guys who cooked them.....

This time, I ordered a double pork patty instead of
three. And it still full.

And as usual, the girls get their weekly dose of MSG
macaroni and La-La and meatballs.

And not only that, a bit of so-called sushi

And lastly, some ABC for them too

More Tricorders

[07.10.2010]

Remember my 2009 JJ Abrams Tricorder? Well, its gone now.

No, no. Its not stolen. Not like with my former MkVII Playmates which i trusted someone and it disappeared right under his nose.

It has gone to a new home. Yep.

And in return, I get two more Tricorders! And right now, I have some very wild ideas on how to modify it even more. Its a lot of work but we'll see what happens come year end. This time, I am going to improve on it.

So, now I have another 2009 Tric and another MkVII
Which encourages me to pick up the pace again. Woo hoo!

Being stuffed at Victoria's

After rushing home and getting everyone ready, it was time for ourselves. Actually, it was time for the both of us but since the everyone's gone, the girls had to come with us. Then again, I am glad they came with us because its a family thing.

And so, because its a special night, we
went into the caboose instead of the
main smoky lounge. And its really
smokey because of the smoke
coming from the hot plates's
steaks

This is the first time the girls had to spread
butter on their own bread and they loved it.

Then when the main course began, everyone really did
enjoy their meals.

The reason I brought them here was to let her try
the scallops which my Ex-Boss used to treat me
during our very last Company dinner.

Somehow, apart form the Chicken Maryland the
dishes we ordered were not really that 'exciting'

And well, since it was her night, I am not going to
say anything more except that the scallops were
not very nice to eat once it got cold, no thanks to
the girls.

No more Ms. Ling

[08.10.2010 19:00]

After working for more than 15 years, she has decided to tramp and stomp on greener pastures. Nothing much to say except that she was a nice person to talk to and not only that, always greeted me when I came into the Department regardless if she's busy or not. But its sad to see her leave on circumstances which I cannot divulge.

This was also nearly the end of me

And so, on the evening itself, we had a nice farewell
dinner
where even an ex-staff joined in. I was looking
forward to
it but because I was in a rush, I had to bid
farewell to her
in a rushed way.

And I also had to bid farewell to the crunchy petai,

The spicy sambal potato leaf plant thingy

And the delicious prawns with onions. (OK, so I did
not eat the prawns and I did not tell my Wife in case
I had to sleep in the floor)

And before the dinner started, I left. Stay tuned to what happened afterwards....

We did it!

Yes! We did it! Finally, this diary is out and its
my first customer! They were so happy that
they wanted another 100 more by mid-December.
Which *ahem*
made the overloaded Production
guys not too happy.

Ha ha ha ha ha!

Magnolia's Mango Mania

03.10.2010

I like Mango. A lot. I like mango as much as the next person who loves durians. And I like them fresh. Most of the time, when I ordered a mango juice or ate something with mango in it, its not fresh. Because where artificial flavouring is concerned, the mango flavour is really hopeless.

But the moment you drink a Mango Yogurt drink, its different. The taste feels much richer, and less of those after-taste sourness. Then again, this is not actual mango flavour but its very good. So good that I would say, its worth taking some time getting used to not finish the whole tub in one night. I mean, it was not me who bought it......

And so, Magnolia caught that flavour and turned it
into an RM8.00 ice-cream tub.

At first, looking from the yellow hue, you'd think
this was a corn flavoured ice-cream. Not only is
it hard but the taste is overwhelming. So great
was the taste, it ran over other ice-creams I
mixed it with and turned them into roadkills.

So, for RM8.00, I might consider buying it again. That is, if my sanity ran out first.

Uncle Ben's Burger Babi

02.10.2010

Babi.

Yep. You read that right.

Babi.

Babi as in Malay for pork. For the non initiated, do not be confused with Barbie, which is actually a very expensive female brain shaping tool (read: Bimbo mind control) and yes, its inedible (read: food poisoning).

And I came across the booth in Ming Tien Foodcourt located in Taman Mayang. Just to see the booth there really caught my by surprise. This is because you hardly see that word pasted so obviously on a sign board in a multicultural 1Malaysia. Not only that, I was surprised that I was surprised being surprised by that fact since I used to be not surprised at all.

And so, as it happens, I was feeling a bit too full since we had some heavy lunch and running out of excuses, I ordered the burger there and then. There is nothing special about this booth, even though it was opened yesterday. I mean, how different can it be if you're so used to Ramly Burgers? The only difference is that I can see two blokes slaving away on a hot grill.

But when I took the first bite, everything changed.

If you have watched the cartoon Ratatouille where there is a scene when the famous food critic Antono Ego first tasted the ratatouille. His first bite took him back to his childhood days, reminding him of the very same dish his mother used to cook. Well, I almost had the same effect. I said almost because at that time, I don't recall eating pork burgers.

But I can tell you this: It is delicious! Compared to burgers from the Clown House, this one just melts in your mouth and yes, you can taste the 1mm thick cheese in there. And the taste, is unlike anything in the World.

Trust me, this is not Uncle Ben.

No, really. This is not Uncle Ben.
Maybe I was expecting a white-
haired old guy with a 2 foot long
beard.........

This is what I think, was a Porky or something.
I can't remember since I am bow blogging about
it just after 2 weeks. But its the top of the range
in the menu and has three porky slices.

Using a pair of chopsticks to 'align; the patties
back, they just melted. Yes, there is a slight
problem in that their burger tends to lean over.
Which tempts you to eat it with your hands
since using just your mouth is a bit too obscene.

Of course, as a side order, you get a packet of crisps
which I gave it to Kaelynn and as expected, both of
them wanted to fight over it.
